Crash Injures Two Cops

  • A young father of nine was killed early today when the car he was driving collided with a police SUV responding to a call on the South Side, Chicago police said.

Shawn Garrett, 25, of Chicago, was pronounced dead about 2:50 a.m. at Stroger Hospital.

Police said two officers were traveling southbound in an SUV with its emergency signals activated about 2 a.m. on South Indiana Avenue. According to police, Garrett's car ran a red light while eastbound on East 69th Street and collided with the police car before crashing into a pole. Both officers were treated and released, but two passengers in Garrett's car were taken to different hospitals in critical condition, police said.

Father of nine? At age 25?

Runs a red light and gets clipped by officers responding to an emergency call?

And his rap sheet? Whoa nellie.
