Well, not really good, but it lessens the impact of some bad news:
- Police are asking for help in finding the driver of a dark-colored SUV that apparently struck a 60-year-old man and fled shortly before an unmarked police car hit the same pedestrian on an unlit South Chicago street early Wednesday.
The wanted SUV was traveling eastbound in the 2800 block of East 79th Street when it hit Kevin D. Garrett around 1:10 a.m., according to a Chicago police alert.
About five minutes later, an unmarked police car also struck Garrett. Police initially said that the man was hit only by the police car.
So the driver of the unmarked is almost certainly blameless in that no one expects a body to be lying in a darkened street during a major snowstorm.
