Turn Yourself In?

Once again, the "no snitching" rules reduces a police commander to begging:
  • Chicago police are urging a suspect in a shooting last week that killed a young girl jumping rope to turn himself in and for the community to help find him.

Tanaja Stokes, 8, and her cousin Ariana Jones, 7, were jumping rope on Tuesday in the 10700 block of South Indiana Avenue in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood when two men rode up on bicycles and opened fire toward a group of males, prosecutors said. Tanaja was fatally shot in the head. Ariana also was struck in the head, but she survived.

  • On Sunday, police said they know the identity of the remaining suspect but would not name him because he is a juvenile. He lives in Roseland and is well-known in the community, Cmdr. Keith Calloway said.

A law enforcement source said the suspect is 16.

"I am begging you," Calloway said. "Turn yourself in to the police. Bring closure and justice to the victims of this family."
Why not just release his name? Either he comes forward in record time or he never comes forward at all. Win-Win from our standpoint.
